1st Auto & Casualty Insurance Co. agreed to a $788,000 class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it failed to include sales tax in total-loss payments to Missouri policyholders.
According to the sales tax class action lawsuit, 1st Auto & Casualty Insurance failed to compensate Missouri policyholders for sales tax when paying out total loss claims. As a result, policyholders were allegedly paid hundreds or thousands of dollars less than they should have been.
1st Auto & Casualty is a subsidiary of Wisconsin Reinsurance Corp. that provides auto, farm and personal liability insurance.
The company hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $788,220 to resolve the sales tax class action lawsuit.
