I wish I have one of these 6.01% Checking Accounts where I live. I would definitely join, do the mandatory requirements, and pay all my bills from it. No more headache with chasing rate since it is a liquid account. The biggest killer is the 12 debits transaction requirement. I guess you would have to pump twelve $1 gas or go to your local Walmart and swipe 12 items separately or pay/donate 1 cent twelve times…you get the idea.

If you unlucky like me and none are located near you, the highest Checking account for everybody is 5% APY at ebank. There is no requirement such as # of debit transaction or Direct Deposit.
Also, this might be worthwhile for your kid’s account at Affinity Bank : 10% APY up to 500 dollars.
great post!!!!! i just contacted affinity–i have to go there in person (closest bank is 1hour away) then I have to also open a gold chx account with them.
thanks for the tip 🙂
you rock (and roll of course) 🙂
The ebank is a promo, and requires $2500 or $5000 balances to avoid a fee of #10 a month, interest rate may change after opening account.
The kids affinity account is only good in California.
I am in PA so none of these are any good for me =(
I wonder if they’re counting on the debit withdrawls to out-weigh the interest Fees. I’m with ING direct… They seem to do the trick for me 😉
