Style
In a fast paced town like Dallas, there is no shortage of luxury hotels. However, none has the ability to blend Old World charm, modern luxuries and storied history like the Adolphus can. The stately entryway was lined with the building’s rich wood paneling and punctuated with gilded accents. Up the stairs, a communal lounge offered a more contemporary feel with steel factory windows, jewel-toned furniture and vaulted white ceilings.
In the French Room Salon, it features an enormous Steinway piano, originally set to board the Titanic but failed to arrive before the ship’s departure. Overall, this hotel feels like a grand and modern European home filled with heritage furnishings and art.
Rooms
There are a total of 407 rooms and suites all features a residential feel with a refined European estate. However, it still boasts a Dallas vibe that is both classic and contemporary.
The Deluxe King Room has roomy 10-foot ceilings, gorgeous rich leather and wood accents, and oh-so-soft carpeting. The spa-like marble bathroom was furnished with a deep porcelain sink, rainfall shower and custom Red Flower amenities.
Facilities
You can spend an entire day at the relaxing, airy, 5,000 square-foot Spa Adolphus, which features rejuvenating treatments with plant-based body products and organic fragrances. They also have their very own luxe rooftop pool deck.
The hotel also comes with a fitness center with large windows that overlook the city, and a busy barbershop that specializes in traditional cuts and straight-razor shaves.
Food & Drink
Inside this hotel, there are plenty of food and drink options that can satisfy anyone. City Hall Bistro is the hotel’s more casual restaurant, serving up Southern European fare all day. Some highlights from their menu include house-made breads, wood-grilled vegetables, braised meats and daily market seafood. We enjoyed the paella for dinner and a short rib panini on challah for breakfast.
For French food lovers, the French Room is the restaurant for you. They present their food beautifully and offer afternoon tea on the weekends. The is a must if you are in town celebrating a special occasion.
Laidback food was also available at Pool Aldophus, like house-made guacamole, grilled Angus cheeseburger and smoked brisket tacos. And lattes and pastries were up for grabs at Otto’s Coffee and Fine Foods.
Service
The service at The Adolphus was excellent and warm in a relaxed way. The staff here really shows their Southern hospitality from the front desk receptionists to the pool attendants.
Location
Centrally located in Downtown, The Adolphus is within walking distance of posh shops, popular restaurants and plenty of the city’s main attractions. The Neiman Marcus flagship store, Dallas World Aquarium, Sixth Floor Museum, Nasher Sculpture Center and the Dallas Museum of Art are all within walking distance of the hotel.
Address: 1321 Commerce Street, Dallas.
