Because most banks and establishments don’t really recognize St. Patrick’s Day as a federal holiday, most schools, government offices, and financial institutions will be open on this day.

When Are Banks Closed?
Federal law 5 U.S.C. 6103 establishes federal holidays and governs how holidays must be observed if they fall on a weekend. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, it’s usually observed on the following Monday. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, it is usually observed on the preceding Friday.
