It’s day 137 for me and the bonus was not applied. I’m not that happy now.
Capital One 360 is solely online. That is why they offer such high interest rates and bonus programs.
You can close it after 90 days upon opening the acct with $ 5000.00-$ 50,000.00 but to be on the safer side, don’t do until 10-15 days passed (meaning 100 days) to be safe because a day here or there could result into not receiving the bonus amount(s). I borrowed the amount from my parents and shall make them happy to give 50% share of my bonus in these 0-1% per annum interest environment while I shall foot the income tax on the bonus as MY BONUS to them. I separately opened another account in their name and with their funds because they aren’t computer savvy. Guess what in my state of Wisconsin even the local banks offer Bonus accounts like these from $ 50-$250 -some with direct deposit (third party) requirements buy hey, pocketing these freebies from Bonus is worth all the troubles. I hope Capital One 350 offer would soon be introduced for some of the folks who missed on to it!
Any chance this bonus will return? I know they have extended it in the past, not sure if that is their usual tactic or if this is gone forever. Been looking for a high interest savings account this week and the bonus here would have sold me immediately!
I wanted to participate but couldn’t find the bank. I’m old fashioned and like to go into the banking institution.

Yes, I think it is unfair. I called and the CS told me that I had a ING account but closed >10 years ago , so I am not qualified for this new promotion. Does Capital One really want new business? like many other banks, there is only a 6 to 24 months window. I have not dealt with them for > 10 years and they definitely lost my business if I am not eligible for the promotion.
Direct from the fine print on the offer page (https://www.capitalone.com/bank/savings-bonus/):
“Deposits made from an existing Capital One 360 account will not qualify.” So, nope.
Only $50 bonus with $5,000 deposit. $500 bonus requires $50,000
Would they have record going back to the early 2000 as far as the ING direct account goes? I closed mine years ago.
Yes. I am mad about this one. Looks like if you ever had an account with ing they don’t need your business! Sad! They are losing a lot of business by rejecting old customers. Then again what do I have to lose $500 only:):)
When can I close this account without losing the bonus? Some banks require that you wait 6 months. Thanks,
I’m not sure what you are talking about. The links are working fine.
None of the links to this offer on this page (or any other HMB pages) works. “URL has Moved”
Not available if you had an ING Direct Savings Account – remember those “Orange Savings” accounts that paid 3% interest? Well Capital One bought ING & dropped the name. Since we’d had a savings with ING, Capital One said we were ineligible for the bonus.
This offer is now closed.Tried on their website and does not work any more.
The expiration of this has been extended to 11/30/2015
Not sure, but why take that risk. Transfer first to another bank, then fund your new capital one 360 account.
The offer says, transfer money from an “external account”. My wife took advantage of this offer and got the bonus for opening a capitalone360 saving bonus. If i open this account, and transfer money from my wife’s capitalone360 savings account, will that considered an external account?
Do not be deluded into thinking that this is a 90 day account..you will have to wait at least an additional 25-30 days to see the bonus posted to your account.this is really a 120 day ( at least) account
Will this bonus apply for a business?
Yes! I had an ING account in 2000 and Peter at Capital One confirmed that if you have EVER had an Ing savings, you are ineligible.
Care to explain? 500 on 50k in 90 days is 4% interest. Where exactly are you getting that for a 90 day hold?
So if I’m reading this correct, can I close the count after 90 days without any penalties?
Thanks for the reply. The deposit does not have to be from the employer and I can deposit it myself , right?
What is the maximum amount I can withdraw in a day?
how?
You sure can samyak!
If I have Capital one credit card, can I open this saving account to get the bonus?
True.. this is waste deal. for holding $50K for 90 days, I can get $1000 for any one.
I clicked the links above and each said “The URL has moved”
Why don’t you just put $50,001 since it’s ONLY $1 more.
To get the $500 bonus do I need to deposit $50,000 or $50,001 ? Can anyone confirm. thanks
I had a ING Direct in 2002. It was closed 10+ years ago, likely in 2004. Does that exclude me?
if i have no capitol bank near me how can i deposit such a large money at once within 10 days ?? i know they look at whichever is the highest amount deposited and then give out the bonus..
Based on my conversation with their phone rep, I would have to say no. She said you have to be a new customer with no previous affiliation with any of there savings products. This even though I haven’t had an account with them in over five years.
Hi,
I want to know if I closed my capital one savings account less than a tear , can I still open a savings account to get the Bonus?
Thanks!
I called and you also cannot have had any other Capital One Savings account even if it wasn’t a 360 savings account. Too bad, had $50000 to invest with them for the $500 bonus.
Only for credit cards.
Doesn’t Capital One do a credit check (x3)?
