According to the class action, the plaintiffs claim that the lack of specific information about what information was taken prevented those affected from being able to take “meaningful, proactive, and targeted mitigation measures that could help protect them from years of financial harm.” Citrix has agreed to pay $2.275 million to settle claims in regards to the breach. Citrix Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit
- Claim Form Deadline: May 15, 2021
- Who’s Eligible: Individuals who were notified by Citrix that their personal information may have been compromised in the data breach around March 2019, or those who received a notice of this settlement stating they or their dependents are part of the Class.
- Estimated Amount: Up to $15,000
- Eligible Class Members may receive up to $15,000 reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses traced to the Citrix data breach.
- Class Members may be eligible to claim $25 per hour for up to five hours of time spent dealing with issues related to the breach. This amount is included in the $15,000 maximum.
- Citrix also has agreed to implement certain business practices related to information security for three years after the settlement’s effective date
- Proof of Purchase:
- Class Members making a claim for reimbursement of out-of-pocket losses must submit a claim form and third-party documentation supporting those losses, such as receipts or other documents not “self-prepared” by the Class Member that document the costs incurred. They also must submit a brief description of the documentation that describes the nature of the loss if that documentation alone does not make the nature of the loss apparent.
- Class Members making a claim for time spent dealing with mitigating damage from the data breach must submit a brief description of the actions they took in response to the data breach and the time associated with each of those actions
