A settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against Community Surgical Supply that claimed the company failed to protect its customers’ personally identifiable information (PII) during a data breach in which an unauthorized third party gained access to the company’s systems.
The private information that was allegedly compromised included full names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers or other government identification numbers and passport numbers.
Community Surgical Supply is a clinically focused home care equipment and services provider with 18 locations in the northeast United States.
The company denies any accusations of wrongdoing but has agreed to the settlement to resolve the claims.

- Anyone whose full name and other PII was potentially accessed during the data incident between Oct. 15, 2021, and Dec. 20, 2021.

- Reasonable documentation showing that the ordinary or extraordinary expenses were more likely than not caused by the data breach. Class members seeking reimbursement of $750 or more must provide their name, gender, date of birth and the last five digits of their Social Security number or their full Medicare Beneficiary Identification Number to be eligible to receive a payment.
