Equifax agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that it improperly reported tribal loan accounts.
According to the class action lawsuit, Equifax reported Great Plains Lending, Plain Green and MobiLoans debts to creditors. The plaintiffs contend the company also allowed debt collectors to change the dates related to these loans to make them appear more recent.
Equifax is one of the three credit bureaus that report on consumer debts and creditworthiness.
Equifax hasn’t admitted wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) class action lawsuit.
