If you have Citi credit card, then I see no reason not to sign up Citi Identity Monitor for a free credit score and a $50 gift certificate. The service is free for thirty days. Simply cancel before the 1 month anniversary, and no harm is done. If you do choose to stay with them, it will be $12.95 a month.
From the website:
3-in-1 Credit Report—Access to your 3-in-1-credit report,
3 credit scores, monitoring and analysis at no additional costCredit Monitoring—Keeps track of your credit file activity every business day
Notify Express SM—Alerts that can warn you of potential fraud
Toll-free access to Fraud and Credit Education Specialists—They’re available to assist you with your concerns
Credit Analyzer and Online Tools—Credit tips and tools to help you understand your credit rating
You get this rebate cert in 2-3 weeks
and then after you send it back, yhou will get the $50 in 6 to 8 weeks..
So you are looking at around 3 months for the whole deal.
If you cancel within the first month,
can you still go ahead with the rebate process or do you have to be enrolled in the program till you get the check back ??
any one know ?
thx
Thanks for the info, Tim.I didn’t sign up for Identity Monitor; if I did I would have seen this.
Mike, here is that rebate language:
“REBATE TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
When you enroll in IdentityMonitorSM, you will receive a rebate certificate within 2-3 weeks via mail. It will be sent separately from your IdentityMonitor membership materials. To qualify for the rebate, you must complete the rebate certificate and include an original receipt for any item purchased (no photocopies). You can only submit one rebate request per membership. If the receipt you submit is for less than $50.00, your rebate will be issued only for the amount of the receipt. Your submission may include multiple receipts equal to or less than $50.00. Only one submission permitted. Incomplete, illegible or photocopied submissions will not be honored, acknowledged or returned. Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for the processing of your rebate check. By submitting a rebate request, you agree to the terms and conditions of this offer.”
Mike: The payment page (where you enter your credit card) tells you how the certificate works. In 2-3 weeks they send you a rebate certificate. You send it back with any receipt for any purchase of $50 or more. They send you a check for $50 8-10 weeks later.
Hustler: According to this page, you don’t need a Citi credit card to do this – you can use any credit card to sign up.
I’m dubious about what this so-called “cash-back certificate” is good for. If you click on Links, FAQ’s, or Terms and Conditions, it tells you nothing.
