Indeck Power agreed to pay over $66,000 to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming it violated the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) by collecting worker biometrics without consent.
BIPA requires companies to get written consent from consumers and workers in Illinois before collecting their biometric identifiers such as fingerprints. Indeck Power allegedly failed to get the required consent before collecting the biometrics of its workers.
Indeck Power Equipment Co. is a supplier of boilers, generators and power equipment parts.
Indeck Power hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $66,825 class action settlement to resolve the BIPA allegations.
