Kia agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming that some of its Kia and Hyundai vehicles suffer from engine defects.
According to the class action lawsuit, the class vehicles suffer from a defect related to the engine’s connecting rod bearing. This bearing can allegedly fail, causing engine seizure, stalling, engine failure and even engine fires — all of which may not be covered by warranty.
Kia is a South Korea-based vehicle company that owns both Hyundai and Kia brands.
Kia hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the engine defect class action lawsuit.
