Style
The LINE Hotel DC upon arrival radiates a modern and cool vibe that catches the guests’ eyes at first sight, leaving them in awe. The decorations that embodies the inside of the hotel gives an inspiring neoclassical façade. The lobby was very spacious with a 60-foot vaulted ceilings that include large copper doors.
The hotel reminisces the fact that it was originally a church with its prominent decorations of a grand chandelier that was redone out of organ pipes, hotel directions displayed on hymnal boards, and mahogany pews utilized for lobby seating.
Throughout the hotel, they have over 3,000 pieces of art by local artists. This include photography by Chris Chen, sculptures by Kathryn Zaremba, murals by Rose Jaffe, and much more.
Rooms
This hotel has 220 rooms and suites that is luxuriously comfortable and stylish for your Instagram worthy pictures. The Landmark King Room was very bright and airy that allowed us to roam the room comfortably. The color scheme of white, brown, and yellow coordinated with each other nicely.
It felt as if we were in a hip apartment with the wood floors, vintage nightstand, brass fixture, retro radio, hardcover books, and even live plants. Not only was the room itself was nice but the bathroom was nicely furnished as well, which included a large shower and handmade, small-batch bath products.
Facilities
One of the most unique thing that The LINE Hotel DC comprise of is their community podcast network and radio station. They are broadcasted live from their very own lobby. How exciting! Not only this, but we were also able to stream 30 weekly programs in our room, for free of charge.
Another amenity that the hotel offers is the roaming bar cart between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., where they offer made-to-order specialty cocktails right to your room. There are also more perks to staying at The LINE Hotel DC such as the sleek fitness center, rooftop yoga at 7 p.m., and access to a running club.
Food & Drink
Erik Bruner Yang, is an award-winning chef that is in charge of the two restaurants, bar, and coffee shop that is offered at The LINE Hotel DC. These places definitely attracts young and local foodies and travelers that are looking to try new and trendy foods and drinks.
Inspired by the Japanese kissaten, Café Spoken serves a variety of food and drinks. This include rice-bowls with coffee in the mornings and smoked wagyu and cocktails at night. There is another restaurant called Brothers & Sisters that offers their guests with a tasty and daring fusion of American and Asian cuisine. Have you ever tried octopus hot dog? This is the place to try such an intriguing meal that could be out of your comfort zone. They also offer exquisite desserts by Picht Ong and cocktails by Todd Thrasher.
Uniquely to The LINE Hotel DC, the Spoken English, a Tachinomiya-style concept, is a standing-room only eatery that encourages conversation between guests over the fantastic sake and street-style small plates. After everything, you are free to head to The Rooftop at the end of your night for cocktails and snacks where there is a panoramic view of the city and the Washington Monument.
Service
Once arriving at the front door, we were led inside to the front desk for check-in. The staffs were respectful, friendly, knowledgeable, and refreshingly laidback. This made us feel comfortable throughout the night. However, because the employees dressed a lot like the patrons, it was a little difficult to discern who was working every once in awhile.
Location
The LINE Hotel DC is located in Adams Morgan. This neighborhood is known for being vibrant and diverse with eclectic restaurants, bars, and vintage shops. There are many main attractions in the area for you to visit as well, just take the metro from either Woodley Park or Columbia Heights. Both of these locations are less than 15 minutes away by foot or there is also an option of taking the bus that is right outside of the hotel.
