According to the lawsuit, plaintiffs allege Octapharma violated the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) by collecting biometric fingerprint data from plasma donors without first providing notice or getting consent. The law prohibits private companies from capturing, obtaining biometric information without notice or consent.
