Style
Entering the premise, guests are greeted with a grand, toffee-colored, marble lobby. The property mixed the soul of contemporary Boston with a touch of European elegance, seen in the leather, wood, and steel used throughout the building.
The warm wood walls and trim compliment the art and hand-blown Murano glass lights. Opposed to ta typical front desk, the modern furnishings act as seating for checking in. Topping off the elegant lobby is a fireplace glowing in the back.
Rooms
This property includes 193 rooms and suites that implement historic materials, like leather, linen, wood and steel, into unexpected details. From leather and bronze headboard fasteners to “turned” table bases. With careful eyes, one can catch the colonial craftsmanship – forging, hammering, embossing and carving – but with rich, new materials and in abstract forms.
The 425-square-foot Scenic Park View Room was designed with a contemporary approach to luxury. The wainscoting was classic, but made modern by the wall treatment above it. Fabrics were custom made in hues of gray, blue and mustard. Elegant lighting, plush carpeting and artwork by local talent made the room warm and cozy. Multiple outlets and USB ports, touchscreen controls, and a large Smart TV with Netflix, Hulu Plus and Pandora would satisfy any tech addict.
The toffee-toned marble bathroom was furnished with a deep soaking tub, a separate shower and luxurious Asprey bath amenities.
Facilities
While there’s no pool or spa on property, the hotel is connected to Equinox Sports Club. Equinox is a 100,000-square-foot luxury sports and fitness complex which houses diverse classes, a 25-yard lap pool, spa, salon and a healthy cafe. Access is complimentary for club-level and higher-category rooms.
The Club Lounge is available to suite or club level guests and features daily culinary – for breakfast, light snacks, hors d’oeuvres, beverages and sweets. Additionally, the lounge offers access to a computer station.
The property also featured a gorgeous ballroom, lined with massive windows which overlooked Boston Common. For business travelers, there are also nine meeting rooms that could accommodate groups from 10 to 350 people.
Room rates can also include complimentary high-speed WiFi for up to six devices, twice-daily housekeeping, overnight shoeshine and morning newspapers.
Food & Drink
The Ritz-Carlton, Boston houses two options for food and drink on location.
Overlooking Avery Street, Artisan Bistro is the hotel’s day-to-night, smartly casual restaurant that overlooks Avery Street. This restaurant serves up farm-to-table, modern American fare. Standout dishes include the lobster crepe for brunch, short rib sandwich for lunch and Georges Bank scallops for dinner.
With a beautiful fireplace as a focal point, Avery Bar gives the Ritz Carlton a cozier vibe and is one of the city’s favorite afterwork hotspots. Order from the bespoke cocktail list and pair your drink of choice with bar snacks and small bites. We highly recommend any of their signature martinis.
Service
Similar to other Ritz-Carlton properties, the service offered at the Boston property was impeccable. Throughout the stay, even in the restaurants, staff is friendly and offers attentive care. Concierge is informed and ready to offer local advice.
Location
The Ritz-Carlton sits just off Washington Street in Downtown Crossing. This prime location means that guests are near the Paramount Theatre, the Opera House and a vibrant restaurant and nightlife scene. Boston Common was at the end of the block, and we could easily walk to Faneuil Hall, Back Bay and Newbury Street.
Address: 10 Avery Street, Boston.
