A federal court has preliminarily approved a lawsuit settlement over alleged defective plumbing fittings manufactured by Viega and distributed or sold by Vanguard. Reimbursements:
- Dezincification Warranty – Viega will provide a warranty covering failings of their fittings including leaks and drop in water flow dues to zinc leaking out of the fittings.
- Repair/Replacement – Viega will pay cost and expenses associated with repairing or replacing fitting associated with eligible failures.

Case Summary: The Vanguard pipe fitting settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit (Verdejo v. Vanguard Piping Systems) that alleges the plaintiffs suffered injuries and damages arising out of defects in certain plumbing system fittings or other components and sub-components made from UNS C36000, UNS C37700, UNS C36500 brass, or similar copper alloys with a zinc content of 15+% manufactured and/or distributed by the defendants. Defendants deny these claims but settled the case before it was decided by the courts.
