Style
This hotel is the perfect representation of the Gold Coast neighborhood. Like other Viceroy properties, this Chicago location is able to effortlessly combine the style of luxury hotels and tasteful boutique hotels. The glass tower building is an ode to luxe modernity, yet the lower floors have a 1920’s preserved facade.
The outside integrity of the hotel combines with the interior to create the perfect blend of modern comfort and luxury. The lobby feels like a retro-glam living room, designed with a mid-century modern aesthetic featuring plush couches, modern light fixtures and a massive fireplace. The focal point, however, is the towering blue wall of poetry, showcasing quotes from Marcel Proust.
Rooms
The Viceroy Chicago houses 180 rooms and suites, all designed by Las Vegas-based TAL Studio. Each room carries the hotel’s contemporary style with a gold, black and blue color palette, striking Deco-patterned wall laminate, gilded accents, mid-century pendant lighting, retro seating and hardwood furniture give way to a pied-à-terre sensibility.
The Deluxe King Room comes with a sofa by the floor-to-ceiling windows, offering guests a relaxing spot to take in the spectacular city views. The spacious bathroom was equally Insta-worthy, with a dual sink vanity, walk-in rain shower and more of the gilded accents. Body products were by Natura Bissé and haircare amenties were by ROIL.
Facilities
Viceroy Chicago features a mid-sized fitness center, a rooftop deck with a seasonal pool and a private event space that can seat up to 120. The hotel offers complimentary yoga classes on Saturday mornings and seasonal bicycle rentals. And if you’re looking for spa treatments, you can book them with the Viceroy’s partner and neighbor, Exhale Spa, at a discounted rate.
Food & Drink
The Viceroy houses two venues for dining. Somerset, created by the successful Boka Restaurant Group, offers modern American cuisine in a stylish, split-level space. Meanwhile, Devereaux is a beautiful indoor-outdoor venue that serves as the hotel’s rooftop (and poolside) lounge. Executive Chef Lee Wolen, arguably one of the best chefs in town, is the culinary genius behind both outlets.
Service
Like other Viceroy properties, Viceroy Chicago offered amazing service. Staff is eager to accomodate guests during their stay, offering recommendations. In addition, the house Tesla Model X, is always ready to chauffeur guests within a 2-mile radium foe no cost.
Location
Viceroy Chicago is located in the upscale Gold Coast neighborhood, surrounded by luxury retail shops and posh restaurants. A couple of block away is Oak Street Beach and it only takes a short 10 minutes to walk to Michigan Avenue, more commonly known as the Magnificent Mile.
