Style
Housed in a 1903 Beaux Arts gem, XV Beacon pairs the building’s original, elegant features with contemporary design and modern amenities. The dimly-lit lounge had a distinguished and soothing tone, with original marble, cast brass railing and gorgeous glass cage elevator. Seating in cream and espresso, and a roaring fireplace, added warmth to the room, while a zebra-print rug injected some pizzazz.
Rooms
This property only has 63 rooms and suites. Each room features a working fireplace, floral arrangements and toiletries from Boston-based line Fresh.
The 395-square-foot Contemporary Classic Room has a coffee color scheme and was furnished with a hessian sofa, surround-sound stereo, original artwork and a King bed with a cashmere throw. The marble bathroom was spacious with a rainforest shower and sunken whirlpool tub combination, as well as a separate vanity area and large wardrobe. The heated towel rack was a nice touch.
Facilities
While there is no spa or pool, XV Beacon does offer a small gym onsite that’s open 24 hours a day, with in-suite yoga, boxing classes and spa treatments available by appointment. If you want a “legit” gym, the hotel sells day passes to Boston Sports Club across the street and the Sports Club/LA nearby. Guests can get panoramic views of the city from the rooftop patio and enjoy a hot tub, open seasonally.
Additionally, the hotel offers a Lexus chauffeur service around town, personalized business cards for use during your stay, complimentary shoe shine, iPad rentals, 24-hour pressing and laundry services, air purifiers, long-term luggage storage and much more.
Food & Drink
At XV Beacon, there is only one dining option: Mooo by Chef Jamie Mammano. As you can guess, the restaurant’s claim to fame is steak, but with contemporary and regional twists. To complement the delicious food, Mooo also offers a full bar and an award-winning wine list of more than 325 labels.
Service
As a fairly smaller property, XV Beacon is able to offer remarkably intimate service. The front desk hleped make check-in a breeze and the friendly staff is able to provide tips on local dining. Guests will be able to find fresh fruit available on their floor. Another intimate touch is the chocolates left on guest pillowcases after cleaning.
Since most of the hotel’s guests are return customers, the hotel staff make a point to get to know them well. They’ll keep notes on your favorite beverage, newspaper preference and more. So when you do return, they’ll have everything arranged in your room prior to check-in.
Location
XV Beacon is located on Beacon Hill, a quiet area with antique shops and hidden gardens. The hotel lies across the street from the Boston Athenaeum and Boston Common. The Massachusetts State House is down the road, and State Street, Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market are all within walking distance.
Address: 15 Beacon Street, Boston.
